The top-selling games in the US for the month of July have been revealed by market research firm Circana--via executive director Mat Piscatella on X/Twitter--and unsurprisingly, it was a very good month for football. With the first entry in the franchise in over a decade, EA Sports College Football saw over 5 million unique players in its first week on sale, numbers that translated to it clinching the top spots on the US charts last month. In a one-two tackle for football fans, EA Sports MVP Bundle took the number-two spot, as this bundle offers both College Football 25 and Madden NFL 25, so sports enthusiasts were doubling up on the fun.
Elden Ring was still a popular choice for gamers thanks to its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion--WWE star Randy Orton has been playing way too much of the game recently--and it settled in third place, while Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition debuted in sixth place.
There were no other new arrivals in the top 20 last month, as old favorites traded places. Several games surged in popularity--Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8's rise could be attributed to the popular EVO Fighting Game Championships last month--and The Crew: Motorfest came from out of nowhere and re-entered the top 20. Piscatella added some more insight on the console market's performance last month, explaining that PS5 sales led the month’s hardware market in unit and dollar sales. In total, 771,000 units of video game console hardware were sold--including PC portable devices like the Steam Deck--an increase when compared to last July's sales of 695,000 units.
