Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves Launches April 2025, New Solo RPG Mode Revealed
SNK's next big fighter revved up at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
Today, during Gamescom Opening Night Live, SNK unveiled the latest trailer for its upcoming fighter Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves. Along with details on new modes and customization features, the trailer revealed that the City Of The Wolves will open its doors to players on April 24, 2025.
The new Fatal Fury game will feature 17 characters on its base roster, with five more coming as post-launch DLC in Season Pass 1. Mai Shiranui was announced at the end of today's reveal, and their inclusion bumps the known roster to 11 of 17 in the base game.
One of the major new modes featured in the trailer is Episodes Of South Town, a solo RPG-style mode where players choose a character, and then play through specific challenges throughout South Town. Each battle will have unique conditions, and completing each match will earn XP and new abilities for the chosen fighter.
Customization options were also revealed for the first time in the ONL trailer, which not only include fighter appearances, but also the in-game soundtrack in certain modes. Each fighter can be assigned the outfit, color, and pattern of a player's choice--with some patterns unlocked by progressing in Episode Of South Town--while music from the entire Fatal Fury franchise will be available to listen to in-game.
Previously known features also highlighted in the trailer include the new Rev System battle mechanics, the Arcade Mode and its story centering around the effects of Geese Howard, and the new Smart Style controls for beginner players. Meanwhile, the online experience will include rollback netcode for less lag during matches, as well as cross-platform play so players aren't limited to players on their platform of choice.
Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves launches April 24, 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Preorders are available now for both the standard and Special Edition, which includes the base game and Season Pass 1.
