Marvel Rivals Release Date Announced At Gamescom With New Trailer
Marvel Rivals made a big splash at Gamescom Opening Night Live with its latest trailer and release date announcement.
Marvel Rivals leaped into action during Gamescom Opening Night Live and announced its upcoming December 6 release date. The new trailer focused heavily on Captain America's rivalry against Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, and ended with an intriguing look at Dr. Doom playing the pieces like a chess board.
Since the game was first revealed in March, NetEase has steadily revealed more details about its upcoming 6v6 PvP shooter. So far, Marvel Rivals has a diverse roster of heroes and villains, with classic comic-book characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Storm joining the roster alongside more sinister characters like Loki, Venom, and Hela.
Several closed betas have been held, with the most recent one ending in early August. First announced for PC, Marvel Rivals will also be released for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 consoles. Heavily inspired by Overwatch, the game features three distinct roles--Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist--destructible environments, and a "team-up" gameplay feature that encourages active teamwork between players.
The past betas have given many players the means to try the game for free, get a feel for this all-new PvP Marvel game, and the player feedback aids in balancing certain characters for the future. Thus far, players have made their frustrations for Venom known due to being an absolute powerhouse running amok.
