Black Myth: Wukong gives you a lot of tools to face nefarious foes. Some, such as Relics, offer unique bonuses that can be selected. However, you do need to progress further in the campaign to obtain them all. Here's our guide to help with the best Relic perks in Black Myth: Wukong. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
Black Myth: Wukong Relics guide - The best Relic perks in the campaign
The Black Myth: Wukong Relics are integral to the story, as they're actually what spurs your character, the Destined One, to go on a journey. As such, our guide is organized based on campaign progression.
How do Relics work in Black Myth: Wukong?
You obtain Relics in Black Myth: Wukong by finishing the game's chapters. While there are six chapters in total, only five Relics are acquired in a normal playthrough.
Once you have a Relic, simply interact with a shrine and click on Self-Advance -> Reignite the Sparks -> Relics to see the corresponding panel. There, you'll notice the available perks. Only one can be active at any given time.
Note that you need to check the panel each time to deactivate a perk if you want to select a different option.
Chapter 1 Relic: Craving Eyes
- Perk 1: Opportune Watcher - Considerably increases focus gained upon consecutive successful light attack hits.
- Perk 2: Eagle Eye - Upon a successful hit with Unveiling Strike, the cooldown of this spell is massively reduced.
- Perk 3: Keen Insight - Considerably increases critical hit damage.
Among these options, we feel that Opportune Watcher is the ideal pick. That's because you need focus to unleash charged/heavy attacks and, by extension, varied combos. The more focus you can amass, the more flexible you'll be in combat situations.
Chapter 2 Relic: Fuming Ears
- Perk 1: All Ears - Slightly increases the invincibility duration of the first move of all varied combos.
- Perk 2: Sound as a Bell - Narrows the window of Rock Solid deflection, but returns half the mana cost of the spell upon successfully parrying an attack.
- Perk 3: Whistling Wind - Temporarily increases attack after a perfect dodge.
Bar none, Whistling Wind is one of the best Relic perks in Black Myth: Wukong. Considering how often you dodge enemy blows, you're looking at an attack buff with high uptime. You probably won't even need to use certain consumables that often.
Chapter 3 Relic: Hubris Nose
- Perk 1: Lingering Aroma - Gains a moderate damage bonus for a short time after casting a spell.
- Perk 2: In One Breath - Focus points can be charged up to +4 within the Ring of Fire.
- Perk 3: Hold Breath - Moderately extends dodge invincibility duration.
Hold Breath is the top option here. Simply put, a mechanic that increases the dodge invincibility duration (i.e. invincibility frames or iframes) is one of the most important facets in a Soulslike or action role-playing game.
Chapter 4 Relic: Envious Tongue
- Perk 1: Refreshing Taste - After consuming medicine, increases the critical hit chance of the next attack.
- Perk 2: Spread the Word - Immobilize affects all enemies around the target.
- Perk 3: Tongue of a Connoisseur - Each equipped soak slightly increases the health recovery of the drink.
Spread the Word is probably one of the best Relic perks in Black Myth: Wukong, especially when you consider how Immobilize becomes your bread-and-butter spell for most of your playthrough. Before, it can be a hassle when facing multiple enemy mobs and only one gets affected by the spell. Now, you can watch entire packs get stopped in their tracks, while you happily wail away at them with your staff.
Chapter 5 Relic: Grieved Body
- Perk 1: Nimble Body - Massively reduces the stamina cost of all charged heavy attacks.
- Perk 2: Everlasting Vitality - Considerably increases maximum health.
- Perk 3: Divine Safeguard - Considerably increases Four Bane resistance (i.e. burn, frost, shock, and poison resistance).
Everlasting Vitality grants +60 health, which might not seem much at a glance. However, this can spell the difference between surviving a hit or perishing to one. As such, any health boost outweighs all other benefits. Who knows? It might even help you in your attempts to tame the Feng-Tailed General later in the game.
That does it for our Black Myth: Wukong best Relic perks guide. If you're keen on maximizing the Destined One's capabilities, we suggest taking a look at our HP/mana/stamina upgrades guide and Vessels guide.
