Data analysis and research firm Circana has shared the latest list of the top ten most-played games across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. On this occasion, the data is accounting for the week ending July 6. Video game industry advisor and executive director Mat Piscatella posted the charts on Twitter/X.
Elden Ring is losing some ground on consoles, albeit slightly. From Software's open-world RPG saw renewed interest with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, but is now in 7th place on PlayStation, compared to 6th place in the previous charts, as well as 8th place for Xbox Series X|S, compared to 7th place prior. That being said, it's still in the first spot on Steam, with Counter-Strike 2 coming in second.
This week's surprise is The First Descendant, the free-to-play third-person looter shooter by Nexon. It was 4th for both PlayStation and Xbox, as well as third place on Steam. All the while, Call of Duty HQ--which encompasses all current Call of Duty games available on the launcher--reclaims the first spot on Xbox Series from Fortnite, while Final Fantasy XIV returns to the top ten on Steam.
