The world of Black Myth: Wukong is filled with secrets, and some of them take you to far-flung locations known only in tales of legend. One of these can be discovered in the vastness of a desert, though you need to help the Drunk Boar. Here's our guide on how you can unlock the Chapter 2 secret area in Black Myth: Wukong. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 2 secret area - The Kingdom of Sahali
The Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 2 secret area can be accessed once you complete the Drunk Boar's side quest. In it, you have to give him a key item, before tracking him down to specific locations. Later, upon reaching the Kingdom of Sahali, you'll do battle against a gargantuan sand beetle.
The Drunk Boar and the Man-in-Stone
If you want to unlock the Black Myth: Wukong Kingdom of Sahali secret area, you need to explore the region until you discover the Fright Cliff: Squall Hideout fast travel point. Here's what you need to do next:
- From the fast travel point, go straight ahead through the caverns until you see the Rockcrest Flat shrine.
- Keep going straight ahead to another open area and you'll encounter the Drunk Boar. This inebriated fella needs to get sober.
- Return to Squall Hideout and look for a short path between the ridges to the right. That's where you'll find the Man-in-Stone, who wants you to break the curse. We discuss these steps further in our Man-in-Stone guide.
- Upon completing the side quest, purchase the Sobering Stone from the Man-in-Stone for 6,480 will.
- Go back to the Drunk Boar and give him the Sobering Stone.
The Drunk Boar's next location
After giving the Sobering Stone to the Black Myth: Wukong Drunk Boar NPC, he'll give you a clue as to his next location. It's none other than Crouching Tiger Temple, which is also where you'll obtain the parry spell. At the Temple Entrance waypoint, go up the steps and look to the right (before the boss arena). The NPC is mulling his status in life, and he also asks you for a Jade Lotus. You can find a lot of these plants in bodies of water, especially those in the previous region in Chapter 1.
Unlocking the Kingdom of Sahali
When you give the Jade Lotus to your boar pal, he'll hand over a coin, but he doesn't really give you a hint as to where he'll go next. The answer: Go back to the area where you initially met him, the clearing straight ahead from Rockcrest Flat.
Once there, a cutscene will trigger, and you'll have to battle the Yellow-Robed Squire. Once he's defeated, he'll open the stone gate that's nearby. This will take you to the Black Myth: Wukong Kingdom of Sahali secret area.
Kingdom of Sahali: The Tiger Vanguard and the Yellow Wind Sage
There are some notable tidbits in this secret area:
- You'll fight a younger version of the Tiger Vanguard, who drops the Tiger Tally. This is a curio/accessory, and it moderately increases your attack when you land hits with your light attack combo.
- The next area is the great desert. You'll find a Meditation Spot to your left.
- The giant rat, the Yellow Wind Sage, stands on a cliff overlooking the great desert. He tells you that there's a beast that he wants to defeat, and his drums will signal its arrival.
Secret area final boss: Fuban
When you're ready, it's time to face the main boss in this area: Fuban, the giant sand beetle. This opponent has slow but hard-hitting attacks, and it can jump to squash your character when it reemerges from below the dunes. Those at low HP might have trouble due to the high damage that it deals.
Eventually, another cutscene will trigger, whereupon Fuban will be incapacitated. Hop on its head and press the button prompt to steal the crystal that's stuck to it. After this part, the Yellow Wind Sage will also join you to bring down your foe.
Once you've defeated Fuban, you'll complete the Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 2 secret area objective. Your rewards include:
- Vessel: Wind Tamer - A special item that massively improves damage reduction. It's one of several vessel items that you can find in the game.
- Armor set: Fuban Set - You can craft three out of four insect-themed Fuban Armor Set pieces. The chestpiece comes from a secret boss in Chapter 4.
- Material: Sky-piercing Horn - A high-tier crafting material.
- Achievement: Shifting Sands
From here, you might want to learn about the secrets in other regions, such as Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain and Chapter 5: Bishui Cave.
